As of 1 January 2020, the new thresholds commenced for contracts subject to the various procurement regulations. I have set out below the ones that are the most relevant in Northern Ireland, however readers should note that other thresholds apply in certain circumstances.
Works
Under both the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016, the threshold for works contracts is £4,733,252.
Services
There are three important thresholds for services, £378,660 for the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and £122,976 and £189,330 for the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the latter value being for Central Government and the former for other entities.
Light touch regime
The threshold for the light touch regime, which applies to social and other specific services as set out in Schedule 3 to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, now sits at £663,540.
Concessions
The threshold for all concession contracts is now £4,733,252.
