Is your business in the manufacturing sector? Are you employed in an HR role in a manufacturing business? If so,  Cleaver Fulton Rankin solicitors invite you to join our webinar on Thursday 25 February, addressing the significant challenges for manufacturing businesses when it comes to hiring and firing.

The landscape for the manufacturing sector is changing. It is critical today that companies focus on maximizing the potential of their largest expense and greatest asset – their people.

This webinar will focus on the hiring process and considerations, including getting a job description right, conducting a fair interview, avoiding discrimination and making and withdrawing offers of employment. Brexit and COVID-19 have presented major challenges and manufacturing businesses are facing difficult decisions concerning restructuring and in many cases, redundancy.  We will highlight the key issues for employers when facing a redundancy situation and outline the steps that should be taken to ensure that your process is robust from an employment law perspective.

Our speakers will also cover the new immigration system, which was introduced on 1 December 2020. Now that the UK has left the European Union freedom of movement for EU nationals ended on 1 January 2021. For the manufacturing sector, this means any new hires from the EU or outside the EU will require a Skilled Worker visa under the new Points Based immigration system. The seminar will focus on the need to obtain a sponsor licence with the Home Office to facilitate hiring EU or non-EU nationals to live and work in Northern Ireland.
